Re-Introducing Whisky Whiskey
On the 28th of September 2024 I launched the first video review of a Whisky, and the video podcast of Whisky Whiskey. On the 1st of February, 2026 the show was shelved, and the final episode went live on the 16th of February, 2026 that was episode 172 for the Caol Ila 12 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky. For medical reasons and in response to some close friends personal situations I chose to take an extended break from Whisky. Drinking it, reviewing it, and making episodes of the show.
Since I started making the show in 2024 I’ve had mixed feedback from pre-existing fans of my work. Many felt that my Whisky reviews had no place in my primary passion project, The Engineered Network . Having stopped the show, and partly in response to this I chose to remove the entirety of Whisky Whiskey from the TEN website and YouTube in mid-2026.
However…I also heard, perhaps even more loudly from fans of Whisky Whiskey, who truly missed my reviews. I’ve been told that I’m one of the few Whisky reviewers out there that can’t take tasting notes seriously (for the most part) and my reviews are honest, direct and frankly, pretty funny. My list of reviews had become a valuable resource for Whisky lovers around the world and I’ve decided to return the show to the web, however things are going to be different.
Firstly, the project will stand alone. It will not be part of TEN . It has it’s own website, it’s own YouTube channel and for now it’s not independently hosted meaning it’s only published on YouTube . I’ve created a new site that’s streamlined and simplified that will now contain a mixture of Video episodes that are links to YouTube, along with Blog posts and Text-based Whisky reviews. With the benefit of hindsight, this was perhaps the better approach from the beginning.
When the show was stopped in February, 2026 there were about 30 episodes of the show recorded that have laid unedited for close to 9 months. I’ve recently started editing those episodes and they will eventually be released in the fullness of time. Additionally, I’ve taken many written notes about Whiskies I’ve tried over the years that I couldn’t record reviews of. These notes will gradually be converted into brief text-only Whisky reviews and added to the site. The intention is to create a much larger resource of Whisky reviews overall, since I’d tried many more Whiskies than I ever recorded for the show.
For the immediate future YouTube videos and Website video episode links will be released once a day until we reach Episode 172, then these will drop to twice a week. That will take us into mid-2027. In terms of written reviews, these will be released ad-hoc. I don’t have any immediate plans to monetise the show and I also have no immediate plans to start re-reviewing Whiskies.
My goal is to share what I’ve learned thus far and give back the resource for those that want it.
